UPDATE – Under the Freedom of Information Act the National Trust has been informed that up to this date there have been no Terms of Reference for the reuse and disposal of W class trams.  This is unacceptable for an asset recognized as a Melbourne Icon.  The National Trust is now seeking to work with the responsible authority to develop appropriate guidelines for the ongoing operation of W class trams and the sympathetic reuse of those carriages deemed unfit for a return to service.
